Compress image to 15 KB
Drop in a picture and save it as a JPG under 15 KB, proportions kept, with the pixels and quality picked for you or exact pixels if you set them. Read your form first: the one official notice we found that names 15 KB uses it as the bottom of a photograph's range (15 to 100 KB), not a ceiling, and a file this small is too small for it.
Make a JPG under 15 KB
Nothing is uploadedWhat 15 KB leaves of a picture.
Half the limit, about 30 percent shorter sides. A phone signature came out at 806 × 403 px under 15 KB, against 1140 × 570 px under 30 KB: half the bytes, about 29 percent shorter on each side. The landscape photograph became 662 × 497 px.
Writing on a page is out of reach. The handwritten A4 page came down to 201 × 285 px, too small to read. At this size the tool is only useful for a signature, a stamp or a small photograph, and it tells you the pixels it chose so you can judge that before you download.
How much a pixel gets. The landscape sample holds 329,014 pixels in about 0.4 bits each. A 3.5 × 4.5 cm print at 200 DPI has only 97,704 pixels, a third as many, so for a picture of that kind the byte budget per pixel is more generous than in our sample.
Official notices that use 15 KB for an image
Among the notices we read, this is the only one that names 15 KB, and there it is the minimum. The row was read in the authority's own file on 29 Sep 2026.
| Notice and file | Official rule and source |
|---|---|
| Admission to LL.M Course 2025Photograph, JPG (the signature is 4 KB to 100 KB) | JPG, 15 kb to 100 kbCommissioner for Entrance Examinations, Kerala (opens in a new tab) Guidelines for upload images and certificates, page 1, checked 29 Sept 2026 |
Nothing we read sets 15 KB as a ceiling for an image. A form that says under 15 KB takes that number from its own upload screen, and this tool can meet it; the samples below show what is left of a picture. None of the exam presets FormAssets runs uses 15 KB.
If your file is below the portal minimum, use the increase image size in KB tool to add bytes while keeping its pixels unchanged.
What fits in 15 KB
Three invented samples, none of them a real person or signature, run at 15 KB with their proportions kept.

If your image looks wrong at 15 KB.
Check whether 15 KB is your maximum or your minimum. A form that says 15 to 100 KB needs a file of at least 15 KB. In the photo resizer, enter 15 as the minimum and 100 as the maximum. The tool then makes the file at least 15 KB, adding inert padding bytes if a plain picture comes out smaller.
Keep the pixels a form names. If the form states a width and height, choose Exact pixels and enter them. If 15 KB is too small for those pixels, the tool says so and asks for smaller dimensions or a larger limit. The photo resizer also names the smallest size those pixels can reach and suggests a size that fits.
Tighten the frame first. The bytes go on whatever is in the picture, including margins. Trim a signature or a stamp so the ink nearly fills the frame, and the tool has fewer pixels to spend on blank paper.
Do not shrink a document to 15 KB. A scanned page at this size is unreadable. If the form takes a PDF, use the PDF compressor; if it takes a picture of a page, ask whether a bigger file is allowed.
Where 15 KB appears.
As the floor of a photograph's range. The Kerala Commissioner for Entrance Examinations' upload guidelines for its LL.M 2025 admission ask for the photograph as a JPG of 15 to 100 KB and the signature as a JPG of 4 to 100 KB. A photograph kept under 15,000 bytes falls below that range, so for such a form set a minimum of 15 in the photo resizer instead of using this page.
Who would ask for less. A form that wants under 15 KB is almost certainly asking for a signature, a thumb impression or a very small photograph. That is our inference; we did not find such a notice.

Questions
How do I compress an image to 15 KB?
Add the image and select Make JPG under 15 KB. Pixels and JPG quality come down together until the file is under 15,000 bytes, with proportions kept, and the panel shows what was used before you save it.
Is 15 KB a minimum or a maximum on Indian forms?
In the one notice we found that names it, Kerala's LL.M 2025 upload guidelines, it is the minimum: photographs must be 15 to 100 KB. We did not find an official notice with 15 KB as a maximum, so read your own form's upload screen.
How big will my photo look at 15 KB?
About 662 × 497 px for a landscape photograph at JPG quality 75. A phone signature came out at 806 × 403 px. Larger pictures are scaled down to fit, so 15 KB is enough for a small ID-sized picture but not for a page of writing.
Can a signature be 15 KB?
Yes. Our phone-photo sample came out at 806 × 403 px and quality 72 under 15 KB. Crop the signature closely first so the ink gets the pixels.
My compressed photo is below the form's minimum. What now?
Use the photo resizer in KB and enter the form's minimum as well as its maximum. It keeps the pixels and adds padding bytes until the file reaches the minimum, and says how many it added. It cannot add picture detail.
Does the picture leave my phone?
No. Choose it from the gallery, and it is shrunk on the phone itself; the JPG lands in the browser's download folder and nothing is uploaded.
Check the upload screen.
Whether 15 KB is your ceiling or your floor decides which tool to use, and only your own notice can say. This one keeps the file under 15,000 bytes and does not check the face, the ink or the background.
