Where 50 KB is the minimum

What 50 KB is for.
Exam and job application photographs. The IBPS RRB, RCF and India Exim Bank notices listed above ask for 200 × 230 px, as do SBI's 2025 Clerk and PO notices. TNPSC asks for 130 × 170 px. All of these photographs must be 20 to 50 KB. The preset sets the pixels and both file-size limits; check the crop in the preview before you make the file.
Left thumb impressions. The IBPS RRB, RCF, India Exim Bank and SBI notices require the left thumb impression at 240 × 240 px and 20 to 50 KB; the TNPSC One Time Registration notice cited here lists no thumb impression upload. Make the impression on white paper, then scan or photograph it. Choose the thumb preset, which uses Fit all, so the whole print stays inside the frame.
Forms with a 50 KB limit and no pixel size. Leave Dimensions on Keep proportions. Our sample photo came to 874 × 656 px at JPG quality 80. Check the downloaded image before uploading it.
Common mistakes with a 50 KB limit.
The pixel dimensions matter as much as the 50 KB limit. Our sample photo was 27.2 KB at 200 × 230 px and JPG quality 100, so it needed no compression at all to stay under 50 KB. A photo 1,000 pixels wide can be under 50 KB and still have the wrong dimensions. Set the pixels from your notice first.
A small photo can fall under the 20 KB minimum. At TNPSC's 130 × 170 px, the same photo came to 16.3 KB at JPG quality 100, under the 20 KB minimum. The preset sets that minimum, so the tool makes the file larger without changing its pixels and tells you by how much.
Fill frame can cut into the face. Under Exact pixels, Image fit has two choices. Fill frame crops the edges so the photo covers the whole frame; Fit all keeps every edge and adds white space. If your photo is a wide shot, crop it to head and shoulders first, and check the preview before you select Make JPG under 50 KB.
Too small for the handwritten declaration. The declaration in these notices must be 50 to 100 KB. Make it on the 100 KB page with the declaration preset.
What fits in 50 KB
Our sample photo kept 874 × 656 px under 50 KB, but at the IBPS RRB size of 200 × 230 px it was only 27.2 KB even at JPG quality 100. Tested with this tool in Chrome 153 on 25 Sept 2026, using computer-generated samples. Your image or browser may give different results, so treat the table as an example.

How do I compress a photo to 50 KB for an exam form?
Choose the preset whose pixel and file-size limits match your notice, add the photo and select Make JPG under 50 KB. The preset sets the exact pixels and the 20 KB minimum, and the result panel shows the original and output file sizes. Check the face and background in the downloaded file before uploading.
Can I get a photo between 20 KB and 50 KB?
The tool can make a file in that range. Enter 20 as the minimum and 50 as the maximum, or pick a photograph preset, which sets both. The file stays under 50,000 bytes; if it would be smaller than 20 KB, the tool adds bytes without changing how the image looks or its pixel dimensions, bringing the file just above 20,480 bytes, which is 20 KB when 1 KB is counted as 1,024 bytes. Then check the file against the current upload page.
Why does my 50 KB photo look worse than the original?
A 50 KB JPG is far smaller than a typical phone photo, so the tool has to reduce the pixel dimensions, the JPG quality, or both. It lowers the pixels first. For an exam form the notice's pixel size is small anyway, so use the preset.
