Category and caste certificates. NEET (UG) 2026 lists the category certificate, and UPSC the caste certificate, as PDFs of 50 to 300 KB, as quoted below. A certificate saved from a phone scanner app can easily be larger, so check its size before you upload it.
Mark sheets and degree certificates. NEET and JEE ask for the Class 10 certificate or mark sheet, and UPSC for matriculation and degree documents, as PDFs of 50 to 300 KB. One or two scanned pages may fit under 200 KB, but readability depends on the document, so open the result and check the small text.
Identity proofs: PDF or image. Check the format first. The UPSC and NEET (UG) 2026 identity proofs cited on the image pages must be JPG files, not PDFs; for those, use the 200 KB image page. Use this page only where the form asks for a PDF.
Experience letters, No Objection Certificates and other multi-page documents. The file-size limit applies to the whole PDF, so all pages share the space. Keep only the pages the form asks for, so the remaining pages can hold more detail.
Official notices that set a PDF limit
Taken from each authority's own document on the date shown. None of these sets exactly 200 KB: they specify 50 to 300 KB, or under 400 KB. Enter the notice's maximum in the tool. This tool sets a maximum only, so where a notice also sets a 50 KB minimum, check the size of the downloaded file.

Common mistakes with PDF size limits.
The text becomes a picture. Each page is saved as an image, like a scan. The text cannot be selected, copied or searched, and links, bookmarks and fillable form fields are dropped. Fill in any form fields before you compress, and keep your original file.
Long PDFs may not fit a tight limit and stay readable. The limit applies to the whole PDF. A one- or two-page certificate may fit in 100 KB, depending on its content, but a long, text-heavy document may not: the tool stops at its lowest resolution of 60 DPI and reports that it could not reach the limit. Upload only the pages the form asks for, or use a larger limit if the portal allows one.
A JPG is not accepted where a PDF is required. Portals check the file type as well as the size. Where the form asks for a PDF, upload a PDF, even if a photo of the document would be smaller. Where it asks for an image, use the image size tools instead.
Password-protected PDFs. A PDF that asks for a password when you open it cannot be read here. Open it with the password, use Save as PDF or Print to PDF to make an unprotected copy, and compress that copy.
200 KB can mean 200,000 or 204,800 bytes. A portal may count 1 KB as 1,024 bytes or as 1,000. The tool keeps the file under 200,000 bytes, so it is below the maximum under either count. Windows and phones may show it as about 195 KB.
Questions
How do I compress a PDF to 200 KB without it becoming blurry?
Some loss of clarity may be unavoidable at 200 KB, especially with long or detailed documents. The tool first draws each page at no more than 200 DPI, then lowers the JPG quality and resolution only as far as needed. Fewer pages leave more room for each, so remove any page the form does not ask for, and check the small text in the result.
Why can I not select the text in the compressed PDF?
The tool saves each page as an image, which lets it reduce both scanned and text-based PDFs towards the limit you choose. Keep your original file if you need the text later.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is read and compressed in your browser, and its contents are not uploaded to FormAssets or anywhere else.
My PDF is already under 200 KB. What happens?
The tool tells you and offers the same file back unchanged. Compressing a file that already fits would only make it less clear.
Can I compress a PDF to 100 KB, 300 KB or 500 KB?
Yes. Choose 100, 300 or 500 KB, or type any limit from 20 to 5,000 KB. A larger limit can keep more detail. One or two pages may stay readable at 100 KB, but check the result carefully; a long or detailed document may not fit.
