What 100 KB is for.
Signatures for UPSC, NEET and JEE. UPSC asks for a triple signature: you sign three times, one below the other, on plain white paper and scan all three as one JPG of 20 to 100 KB. NEET (UG) 2026 and JEE (Main) 2026 require a signature file of 10 to 100 KB. Enter the minimum from your notice as well as the 100 KB maximum, and for UPSC rename the downloaded file to signature.jpg.

A scanned page that must stay readable. Our A4 page of handwriting kept 612 × 865 px under 100 KB, and every word was readable in our test. At 20 KB the same page shrank to 274 × 387 px and was hard to read.
Common mistakes with a 100 KB limit.
The declaration has a 50 KB minimum too. Our sample declaration came to 93.6 KB at 800 × 400 px, inside the 50 to 100 KB range. A very plain scan can come out under 50 KB; the preset sets the minimum, so the tool then makes the file larger without changing its pixels and tells you by how much.
File size alone does not make a scan readable. Scan the page on a clean white background, or photograph it in even light, and crop to the writing before you resize. Shadows and uneven backgrounds need more compression and can make the writing less clear.
100 KB is over the IBPS RRB, RCF, India Exim Bank, SBI and TNPSC photograph and signature limits. Their photographs stop at 50 KB and their signatures at 20 KB, so a 100 KB file is over both limits.
This page makes JPG images, not PDFs. If the portal asks for a PDF under 100 KB, a JPG will not be accepted in its place, even at the right size. To make the PDF itself smaller, use the PDF compressor and choose 100 KB.
What fits in 100 KB
Our handwritten A4 page kept 612 × 865 px under 100 KB and was easy to read, and the declaration preset came to 93.6 KB at 800 × 400 px. Tested with this tool in Chrome 153 on 25 Sept 2026, using computer-generated samples. Your image or browser may give different results, so treat the table as an example.

How do I compress a scanned page to 100 KB?
This works for a scan saved as JPG, PNG or WebP. Add it, leave Dimensions on Keep proportions and select Make JPG under 100 KB. The tool reduces the pixel dimensions while trying to keep the JPG quality at 72 out of 100 or above. Crop the scan to the paper first, and check that the text is readable in the downloaded file.
What size should the handwritten declaration be?
In the IBPS RRB, RCF, India Exim Bank and SBI notices listed on this page: 800 × 400 pixels at 200 DPI, 50 to 100 KB, in JPG. Choose the declaration preset to set the pixels and both limits, and follow your notice's rules on the wording and handwriting.
What size should a UPSC signature be?
UPSC's upload instructions ask for the triple signature in one JPG named signature, 20 KB to 100 KB, with image dimensions of 350 to 500 pixels; they do not say whether that means the width or the height. Set 100 as the maximum and 20 as the minimum, rename the downloaded file to signature.jpg, and check the pixel size against the upload screen.
