Add a photo or scan and download a JPG under 200 KB. UPSC specifies 20 to 200 KB for the photograph, and NEET (UG) 2026 and JEE (Main) 2026 specify 10 to 200 KB, as quoted below. If the full-size image can be saved under 200 KB, the tool keeps its pixel dimensions; otherwise it reduces them.

What 200 KB is for.
Photographs for UPSC, NEET and JEE. UPSC asks for a JPG photograph with the file name photo, 20 KB to 200 KB; NEET (UG) 2026 and JEE (Main) 2026 ask for 10 KB to 200 KB, with the face clearly visible against a white background. Set the minimum from your notice, and for UPSC rename the downloaded file to photo.jpg before uploading.
Identity proofs uploaded as JPG. UPSC asks for the photo ID as a JPG of 20 KB to 200 KB, and NEET (UG) 2026 asks for an identity-proof JPG of 10 KB to 200 KB when it is not verified through Aadhaar or DigiLocker. Our sample printed document stayed at its full 1754 × 1240 px at JPG quality 77; check small print at full size before uploading. The certificates listed in these notices must be uploaded as PDF files, not JPGs.
Text-heavy documents scanned on a phone. The handwritten A4 page kept 865 × 1223 px under 200 KB, about twice the width it had at 50 KB. Use the 200 KB limit when the form allows it and the document has small text.
Common mistakes with a 200 KB limit.
Too big for IBPS RRB, RCF, India Exim Bank, SBI and TNPSC uploads. The IBPS RRB, RCF, India Exim Bank and SBI notices set a 50 KB maximum for the photograph and thumb impression and 20 KB for the signature; TNPSC sets 50 KB for the photograph and 20 KB for the signature. A 200 KB photo is over those limits. Use the 50 KB or 20 KB page for them.
A small image stays small. If your image is already under 200 KB at full size, the tool keeps it at full size rather than enlarging it. Enlarging adds bytes, not detail. If your form states a minimum file size, enter it in the Minimum size box.
HEIC photos. Some iPhones save photos as HEIC, and not every browser can open them. This tool accepts JPG, PNG and WebP. If it cannot open an existing HEIC photo, export that photo as JPG first; for future photos, you can set the iPhone camera format to Most Compatible.
A photo of a document is not a PDF. If the form asks for a PDF, a JPG will not be accepted in its place, even at the right size. The NEET, JEE and UPSC certificates listed on the PDF page must be PDF files of 50 to 300 KB. To make a PDF smaller, use the PDF compressor.

How do I compress a photo to 200 KB on my phone?
Open this page in your phone browser, add the photo and select Make JPG under 200 KB. Everything runs on the phone; the photo is not uploaded. The browser saves the JPG to its usual download location, often the Downloads folder or the Files app.
Will compressing to 200 KB reduce the quality?
It depends on the original. If the photo can be saved under 200 KB at its original pixel dimensions, the tool keeps them and adjusts only the JPG quality; otherwise it reduces the pixels first. In our tests the JPG quality stayed between 76 and 81 out of 100. The result panel shows the pixels and quality used.
Can I upload a 200 KB photo to an exam form?
It depends on the exam. UPSC specifies 20 to 200 KB for the photograph, and NEET (UG) 2026 and JEE (Main) 2026 specify 10 to 200 KB. The IBPS RRB, SBI and TNPSC notices set 50 KB as the maximum. Check your own form's upload page.
